A Note from the Fort Bend County Sheriff
The You Are Not Alone Program ensures our seniors and individuals with disabilities receive telephone calls and a visit from a YANA volunteer. If you have a loved one, relative or friend who would like to enroll in our YANA program, please call (281) 341-YANA (9262).



How does YANA Work:

Must Live in Fort Bend County

Must be 65 or above or have a disability

Calls can be made daily, at an agreed time.

If a participant does not answer the phone after several attempts are made to reach them, a series of steps follow to assure their safety and well-being.

YANA Volunteers can change Light bulbs and air filters for residents.

We can assist with county transportation needs.

Twice a year we will assist in changing batteries in your smoke detectors.

How to Volunteer:

Must be a graduate of the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Citizen Police Academy or other Fort Bend County area CPA.

Must be a U.S. citizen or legal alien who has applied for citizenship

Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and auto insurance

Good moral character.

Conviction of a felony is disqualifying.

Physically and emotionally able to perform the duties of the position

Must pass a complete background check

Agree to abide by all department and program rules
